nuage

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency EPA is granting SEK 410 million in local climate investment programmes (Klimp). Biogas Väst one of Business Region Göteborg business development projects is granted SEK 25 million. The total investment amounts to SEK 147 million intended for biogas production and sustainable transports. The climate investment programme, Klimp, is a type of government funding to municipalities and other local players who make long-term investments to reduce the greenhouse effect.

Planned investments in the Göteborg Region:

Biogas production plant in Göteborg, collaboration between Göteborg Energi AB, Renova AB and Gryyab. The production plant will mainly use waste from household, restaurants and the food Industry. The biogas production plant is dimensioned for 38 000 tonne organic waste/year and will provide vehicle fuel for 2000 passenger cars during one year. (approximately 31 GWh/year). The Biogas will be distributed through the natural gas grid to filling stations.

Investment in biogas busses, Västtrafik (public transports) replaces 50 diesel busses with biogas-driven busses.

Farm based Biogas production for sustainable transports, Göteborgs Energi AB establishes a biogas production plant based on energy crops from farms in Agnestad/Viken. The biogas produced from the farms will be treated and upgraded to be used as vehicle fuel.

Duel –Fuel Technique for diesel transports. DHL Express (Sweden) AB, converts heavy vehicle truck with Duel – Fuel Technique. Duel-Fuel Technique means that the diesel engine uses methane gas as fuel, and only a small amount of diesel is used for ignition. The vehicle will be used for demonstrating and testing the technique.

Biogas-driven vehicles, DHL Express (Sweden) AB replaces 35 diesel-driven light duty trucks with Biogas-driven vehicles. The trucks will operate in Göteborg and Västra Götaland.
