Fuel effficient biogas car showed at event in Stockholm
A concept car that combines high performance and low biogas consumption was exposed at a commercial event in Stockholm on 25 April. The car has a 1,4 litre engine with double over-charging (mechanical compressor and turbo charging). The power is 150 hp and the consumtion is about 6 Nm3 of gas per 100 km which is very low for a car of this type. According to the manufacturer, the car will go into production in late 2008.
The Volkswagen Passat TSI EcoFuel is an interesting car in terms of its combination of family sized car, high performance and low fuel consumption. The relatively small engine is equipped with a mechanical compressor that improves the torque at low speeds and a turgo charger that improves the acceleration. When put into production, it will provide the taxi and company car market in Europe with an interesting option in terms of both economy and environmental performance.
